Safety Policy

Columbia Parkinson’s Support Group Safety Policy

The Columbia Parkinson’s Support Group recently developed a Safety Policy. This is necessary because of some concerns that have arisen recently with the safety of some of our attendees at meetings. We also are very aware of the risk management stipulations of using space at Lexington Health.

The Columbia Parkinson’s Support Group is mindful of safety issues at our meetings and events, in particular those involving attendees who need assistance. It is the policy of the CPSG that anyone who needs assistance and is unable to come and go independently must have a caregiver with them who will be responsible for getting them to the meeting room and seated, restroom breaks as needed, and back out to their transportation safely.

CPSG cannot assume responsibility for the safety and well- being of attendees. We are not equipped to provide personal, one-on-one mobility assistance, pushing wheelchairs, or individual care. Therefore, attendees requiring this type of support must be accompanied by their own personal care attendant or companion.

Attendees at our meetings and events agree to hold harmless, indemnify and defend the Columbia Parkinson’s Support Group and its Board and other members from any and all claims, demands, actions, losses, and expenses of any kind, and from all persons, arising out of attendance at the Columbia Parkinson’s Support Group’s meetings and events.
